His first graphic novel about the Caped Crusader, author and designer Chip Kidd (who worked on Bat-Manga! and oodles of famous book covers) teamed up with illustrator Dave Taylor (2000 AD) for the upcoming Batman: Death By Design.
In this love letter to the concrete canyons of Gotham City, suspicious building accidents place Batman at odds with both The Joker and a mystery man named Exacto.
Loving the pencil colour style images and the Art Deco buildings it reminds me of the old Batman Animated Series which was heavily influcened by Noir
Printer is printing in funny colour could be dried up ink again anyway so posting some quick scamps.

I was interesting in using art deco/Noir type for the show linking to prohibition theme but mehhhh people doing better work again.

A look at whatever logo we get how to change it into a Noir Film intro slide
Here is Art Deco Iron Man to distract people from this things

Im thinking of looking into Noir style for when we talk about branding and logos or such on tuesdays. So i been lookng at stuff like this

maybe Salford Show could be a film intro slide

A nice type which fits noir style, i will print some out and do some drawing with it tomorrow for Wednesday or post onto facebook group

Outline drawings of combat vest the PMC members will wear from a bit more armoured (top left) to basic normal vests the army wears today.

Coloured version to show where emblems are placed (still need make them fit in better with image). The Green vests are jungle wear and top left is more desert was thinking they work to protect elephants. Also thought didn’t need the other drawings all was need was a sides, back and the vest off image
At first i was only working on a single branch not a whole company they where to guard a tribe. The squad i ended up calling Dartfrog because its relatable to the amazon people they understand what the animal is and the fact it only has the most dangerous poison on its body to protect itself from being eaten.
After looking at military emblems i ended up just using the emblem for Homeguard but with vector of a frog on the sleeve of a t-shirt or combat jacket it be correct and will help people identify what squad they belong to.

After having a chat with Lee when i was tired of doing scamps we got into talking about one idea which was sell something to amazon tribes. The scamp was not good but it had something there i was wanted to do a different thing about protection as the amazon tribes are endangered due to deforestation. Lee came up with idea of a private security company who protects them and i kind of got carried away with it and made into a full company that protects things around the Earth.
Its a ridiculous idea but i loved it and after looking into current PMC companies i might become a mercenary (£1500 per hour payment is nice). So i came up with Homeguard the PMC who guards endangered and protected areas.

(the black background is used to show white border of the emblem)
now yes it looks cheesy but here is a real life successful PMC company Blackwaters

I wanted it be cheesy on purpose and think it works (it is really hard to try and make your work cheesy on purpose not dead neat or perfect). The reason for it being called Homeguard is to reflect the idea they only protect not warmongering and Earth is home to everything.
